Managing General Defaults

Settings are the back-end of your database. Site Settings allow you to maintain and customize the front-end system.

  1. Click on the profile icon in the upper right-hand corner of your screen in your Eleo database, and then on Site Settings.

  1. General Defaults is the first section of this area in your account. This is where you can enable or disable modules under the 'Use These Modules' section.
    1. If you toggle any switch on or off, please be sure to click on 'Save' to ensure that these changes are implemented. You will see modules added or removed from the left side navigation bar or added within the corresponding area of the database with which they are associated (e.g. Smarty will be found in a contact record).

b. 'Display Title and Suffix on Contact View' is a toggle. When turned on, it indicates that the fields will be displayed when viewing a contact record.

c.'Auto-populate Informal and Formal Salutations on Contact Forms' is a toggle that, when turned on, indicates that these fields will be automatically filled out in your contact records.

Helpful tips for setting up a contacts' salutations:

These will be important when creating mailings or Donor Statement Reports for EOY

  • Formal: If Formal Salutation field is empty, use the First + Last name. If First & Last are empty, use the Organization name
  • Informal: If Informal Salutation field is empty, use the First name. If First is empty, use the Organization name
  • If the contact is anonymous, the salutations should be blank*

d.'Password Expiration' is a security feature that allows the password for your user access to expire after a certain period of time or not at all. Please review the options available in the dropdown and select the one that best fits your preferences.

e. 'Federal ID #' is a field where you can enter the Federal EIN number for your nonprofit organization. This will populate on your Donor Statement Letter Report, which is Eleo's year-end report that you can use to send out to your constituents.

f. ''Year-to-Date (YTD)' allows you to enter dates (from/thru) for your fiscal year. This will be reflected throughout your database (e.g. on your calendar, tasks, reports, etc.), unless you filter for other dates.

g. 'The 'Recognition Level Method' allows you to edit the timeframe for when Eleo calculates these in your database (e.g. Time Period: Last 12 Months, Lifetime, or Year-to-Date). Please read our guide on 'How to Create Recognition Levels' for more information.

  1. Please be sure to click on 'Save' when editing any information in your Site Settings.
